Dear Brothers and Sisters, I have been blessed with the opportunity to study abroad in Rome this semester with 16 other St. John Vianney seminarians and students from the University of St. Thomas. It has been an amazing experience to live in a place where there is so much history in the Catholic Church. To walk where the saints have walked and to see where the saints have lived has been an incredible experience. Another great gift that I have received has been able to see Pope Francis a few times. Even better, I will be serving for Pope Francis for the Christmas Eve Mass in St. Peter’s with my brothers! It was news that I was not really expecting even though I knew there was a chance for that to happen. I do not think there is a way to prepare for meeting the Pope other than praying for him. The thought of meeting Pope Francis and serving at the altar right above the bones of St. Peter has been such a consolation. All I can really say is that God is generous with His gifts and I am thankful for this opportunity. I pray that that Jesus may be born in all of our hearts especially during this Christmas Season.
