Little Flower Celebrity Volleyball Game

This past Saturday, November 22, Little Flower Catholic Church in Mobile hosted the seminarians of the Archdiocese of Mobile currently studying at St. Joseph Seminary College in St. Benedict, LA and St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in St. Meinrad, IN for their Celebrity Volleyball Game.  The game was held on Saturday afternoon in the Little Flower Catholic School gym, a.k.a. the “Viking Dome.”

The parents of the parish formed two teams which played a game against each other to determine who would represent the parish in the championship game against the seminarians under the team nickname “the Big Flower.”  The seminarian team (nicknamed the “Old Dominion”) consisted of Alex Crowe, Chris Boutin, Patrick Gilbreath, Peyton Plessala, John Paul Sylvester, Patrick Carter, Andrew Jones, Joey Dunbar, and Jose Hernandez.

The seminarian team won the first game, then dropped the second game to the parishioners, necessitating a game 3 to break the tie.  The seminarians ultimately took game 3, and the overall win!  After the game, the girl scouts of the parish presented the seminarians with hand-made crosses, and the parish presented the men of both seminaries with commemorative plaques.

A big “thank you” goes out to the parishioners, parents, and staff of Little Flower for their hard work to make the volleyball game a success.  We look forward to defending our title in the years to come!

I had the best time playing on the parent’s team and I also enjoyed seeing the smiles on the kids faces, for whom we were playing for. I agree with Clara, let’s make it an annual event. #littleflowerpower

Wow! I have been reading this blog for quite a while now; it helepd a lot in answering questions I had about going to seminary (hmmm guess that’s why the name is what it is). I also just recently switched to Rockbridge Seminary and am enrolled in my first class. Definitely enjoying the experience so far. Looking for any more writers for the site? =)
